Meet the Team: Senior Backend Developer, Davide Rizzo

Who are you, where are you from and what’s your mission at Jobspotting?

My name is Davide. I’m a computer engineer from Italy who has been restless for a few years and founded a couple startups. Now I take care of the web backend at Jobspotting.

What is your pet hate?

Self-righteousness. You are welcome to tell me what you believe, and your needs behind your beliefs. But if you really want to strike a bad chord then tell me your beliefs are right.

What was your worst job?

This would technically be my first job. But I want to be sympathetic to all the job seekers reading this. I think job seeking itself can easily get one of the most tiresome and frustrating jobs. Hope I’m doing something to help.

Where is your favourite place?

My mind. I still have a few corners I want to visit. Want a postcard?

What TV show, past or current, would you like to have a cameo in?

Let me cross paths with BBC’s Sherlock Holmes. Watching the show always turned some switch in my mind, feeling like for some time I had an extra crisp clear understanding of the world around me. I wonder what would meeting Sherlock in person do.

What was the first album you ever bought?

Queen, Made in Heaven. I bought it as a gift for someone but ended up keeping it. I was quite young, I’m not sure I really understood what was going on with Freddie Mercury at the time.

What is your game-plan for the zombie apocalypse?

I have only one zombie movie in my faulty pop culture knowledge, and that is Shaun of the Dead. So I guess I would play some Queen (see a pattern?) and try fighting the zombies with a pool stick.

Who would play you in a TV movie about your life?

Can I get Michael Fassbender? I mean, not because he gets all the ogles. He is as shy as I am and I would trust him to act both the highs and the lows.

What do you love about Berlin?

It is a city that has its wounds exposed. It doesn’t try to hide them. It’s not ashamed of being vulnerable.

What’s your favourite quote?

“Strangers passing in the street

By chance two separate glances meet

And I am you and what I see is me

And do I take you by the hand

And lead you through the land

And help me understand the best I can”

Pink Floyd – Echoes

Why do you like working at Jobspotting?

The team culture. Having built a tech company myself, I found an amazing match with the founders of Jobspotting, and with all the people I get to work with daily.
