The best things in life always seem to happen when you least expect them.
Back in 2013, when Robin was working for Axel Springer Plug and Play, he met a man called Gilad Novik, the CTO of Horizons Ventures at Yossi Vardi’s legendary unconference, Kinnernet.
Fastforward a few months, Gilad finally met the Jobspotting team before we even had a proper pitch deck. We had just moved into our own office when he stopped by one day before lunch. Being the CTO, he spent most of the meeting discussing tech with Jan and Manuel over several portions of Chinese dumplings.
Following our initial meeting, he introduced us to his London-based colleague Bart Swanson – the European eyes and ears of Horizons, who had been involved in Summly from the early days. We had an amazing conversation about the future of recommendations and our vision to inject some much-needed data-driven technology into the recruitment sphere.
We are now beyond thrilled to announce we have found an investor that shares our vision. Horizons Ventures has backed us with a seed investment and we are delighted to have such a like-minded partner to help us realise great things for Jobspotting.
Horizons Ventures Limited is an international venture capital firm based in Hong Kong, which manages the investments of Sir Li Ka-Shing. The firm mainly leads late stage investments in startups with a strong technology focus.
Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far. We’ll have lots more to announce over the coming months, so watch this space. As always, we look forward to your feedback on how we can make Jobspotting work better for you!
